We are delighted to have secured Scottish Golf support for Get Into Golf: Girls, a national initiative aimed at encouraging greater female participation in the game of golf, and an important element of Scottish Golf’s Women and Girls Strategy.
Like its sister programme Get Ladies Into Golf, the focus of Get Into Golf: Girls is very much on fun, enjoyment and confidence building.
Seven primary school aged girls have signed up for the programme, led by Jason, Sean and Ross. So far, they have learned all about putting and chipping. They’re very excited to be venturing out onto the course this week to practise combining the two!
Go Girls! You’re doing great and we’re very proud of you.
On Thursday 4th June the RMMGC hosted the Friendship Cup, an annual Ryder Cup style competition between male golfers from the USA and Scotland who make up the respective teams of The Red Rocks and Team Carnoustie, the latter comprising players from Carnoustie, Blairgowrie and the RMMGC.
Unfortunately, the weather was very unkind and play had to be suspended due to thunder, lightning and flooding! The gents did however enjoy excellent clubhouse hospitality in the evening.
They look forward to meeting up again, for the second leg of the competition, in Utah in September where we hope the sun will shine for them!
Sunday 7th June marked the thirtieth MacDonald Texas Scramble. Twenty-four ladies, competing in six teams of four, enjoyed a great day of golf and socialising.
As always, Alex Stewart was on the first tee with his ‘Quiet Please’ sign, and he and Garry Murray helped Andy ensure the ladies never went thirsty.
Congratulations to the winning team: Doreen Leask, Lynn Coull, Anne Reoch and Sharon Young. Also to runners up Fiona Bacon, Eileen Fullarton, Jan Petrie and Carol Smith.
A big thank you and well done to all ladies who entered into the spirit of the day, and very special thanks to Andy and Andrea (pictured with Lynn Coull) for their support and generosity over the past thirty years.
